This shut-off nozzle type operates with a bolt across to the melt flow stream.

This transverse-mounted locking mechanism has the advantage that when compared to the traditional needle version less material deflection occurs.

This result in lower material shears and reduced pressure drops. The bolt shut-off unit is a well-defined one channel system.

This also has the advantage, that by very sensitive materials the so-called memory effect can be avoided. The bolt lock nozzle is activated by means of an integrated pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder. This  master cylinder operates double-acting.

Bolt shut-off nozzles are mostly used for rather big injection molding machines. In those cases where procedural advantages will be asked, is the application of a bolt shut-off unit a meaningful, economic solution. Please pay attention to the fact that the locking system is quite away from the sprue bushing.
